Faculty Brief

The Faculty of Agricultural Technology (AT) at Al Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) is a promising academic establishment as it’s responding to national and international calls to meet global challenges influencing food security and climate change. The core of the faculty is to add value in agriculture technology and food production where students obtain a balanced learning in diverse skills like critical thinking, problem solving, team work, entrepreneurship, and ethnic harmony to meet needs of society and market requirements. Students will engage with rural communities and also participate in faculty activities. The faculty offers a smart and innovative program leads to Bachelor degree (BSc.) in “Agricultural Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (ABGE)”. The program is aiming to empower smart thinking and provide significant education to students in fundamentals of smart agricultural systems, biotechnology and genetics, balanced with the applications of acquired knowledge in biotechnology for enhancing agricultural production. In this program students explore, search and analyze agricultural cases to better understand interactions among agricultural components that will lead to technological progresses in providing farmers with tools and resources to make agriculture more profitable and sustainable. The teaching curriculum developed to add value for students’ knowledge and strengthen their competencies to address working opportunities. The faculty established contemporary laboratories and advanced greenhouse to deliver training and research in biotechnology and agriculture systems like hydroponic. Students graduating in AT from AAU will be equipped with skills and competency factors in using technology achieve food security in Jordan and the globe.
